Pizza Base

Making of pizza dough is a tricky yet fun experience. Though pizza base is easily available but making it at home is satisfactory and not to forget about the organic part of it.  If you make it with precision, you will never buy it from bakery.

You can pick any yeast that is available at your locality. You have to check the instructions given on it and its expiry date. Always pick dry instant yeast and not the granulated yeast. Instant yeast is easy to work with. 

It is important to proof the yeast before mixing it with flour. This process is done by mixing it with lukewarm water and sugar. Make sure to use lukewarm water, as hot water or cold water will kill the yeast. When you dip a finger in water, it is warm and yet it does not burn your finger means it is perfect for yeast.

While kneading the dough, always add yeast mixture first and then oil. This helps in rising the dough well. Now let us see the ingredients required and steps to make homemade pizza base.

Preparation Time: 1.30 hours
Cooking time: 5-10 mins

Ingredients:
  • Lukewarm Water - 1/4 cup (for yeast)
  • Sugar - 2 teaspoon
  • Yeast - 1 1/4 teaspoon
  • Maida - 3 cups
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Oil - 2 tablespoon
  • Lukewarm Water - 3/4 cup (for kneading)
  • Oil - 1/4 teaspoon (for smoothening the dough)

Method:
  1. In a small bowl, add lukewarm water.
  2. To it add granulated sugar and mix it well.
  3. Then add dry instant yeast and mix it properly.
  4. Keep this mixture aside.
  5. In a large bowl, add maida and salt. Mix it.
  6. Make a well in the center and add yeast mixture.
  7. Perfect mixture will turn milky and frothy.
  8. Mix it well and then add oil to it and mix it again.
  9. Add little water and knead the dough. 
  10. Use lukewarm water to knead the dough.
  11. The dough should be little sticky after mixing it properly.
  12. Now transfer it onto platform and drizzle some oil.
  13. Now stretch the dough and knead it like it is shown in the video.
  14. This process should take atleast 4 minutes.
  15. By that time it will become smooth and shiny.
  16. In the same kneading bowl, apply oil at all the sides and place the dough at the center.
  17. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour atleast.
  18. After 1 hour, it will double in the size.
  19. Punch the dough in the center and knead it for 2 minutes.
  20. Now divide the dough in the equal parts and keep it aside.
  21. Take one
