Masala Sweetcorn

Sweet corn and rains! One of the best combinations. Isn't it ? Sweet corn or makkai is of two types. Desi, that is Indian and American, which is more sweet and juicy. Usually American sweetcorn is used in this recipe and other recipes too. Indian corn is roasted on coal and is eaten with lemon and spices on top of it.

During rainy season, roadside vendors sell this masala corns and when you go by the street you get tempted by the aroma of hot and boiled corn. I am sure you will have at least one special memory of enjoying rains and sweetcorn with your loved ones. 

You can easily and quickly make this at home. To save the time, you can keep sweetcorn boiled and store them in deep freezer. Whenever you feel like, you can make it immediately. It will hardly take 5 minutes to prepare it. In this recipe, I have added garlic, which is optional. Lets see all the other ingredients and steps to make it.

Preparation Time: 5 mins
Cooking time: 5-10 mins

Ingredients:
  • Boiled sweetcorn - 1 1/2 cup
  • Butter - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves crushed
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - a pinch
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon

Method:
  1. You have keep sweetcorn boiled. Let it dry before cooking.
  2. In a pan, add butter and let it melt.
  3. Then add crushed garlic and saute it for few seconds.
  4. Now add boiled corns and mix it well.
  5. Then add all the spices and mix it.
  6. Switch off the flame and add lemon juice.
  7. Mix it and serve it hot.
