Looking for something quick and easy for your sweet tooth ? The wait is over. Though there are millions of dessert recipes across the world, but this sweet dish is not only tasty but healthy too. Ever heard of suji ka halwa ? Suji is also called as rava or semolina. It is easily available in any grocery shop. 

Many delicacies can be prepared from this suji. It is widely used forboth,sweet and savory dishes. It is said that it is light for heart and can be consumed once or twice a week. Many suji dishes are popular such as suji dhokla, upma, idli, uttapam, suji toast, rava dosa and many more. This are all savory dishes. 

Today i will share with you a sweet dish made out of suji/rava or semolina. It is called suji ka halwa/suji seera/suji shira. It does not require many ingredients and can be made by beginners too. All you need to know is right measurements. Lets look at the ingredients and way of cooking smooth and soft suji ka halwa.

Preparation Time: 0-5 mins
Cooking time: 25-30 mins

Ingredients:
  • Ghee (clarified butter) - 3/4 cup
  • Suji/Rava - 1 cup
  • Water - 4 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup 1 tablespoon
  • Kesar - 4-5 strands
  • Elaichi powder - a pinch
  • Muskmelon seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Dry fruits - 1/4 cup
Suji ka Halwa

Method:
  1. In a pan, add ghee. Let it get melt. Then add suji/rava.
  2. Roast it till it changes colour to light brown on medium-high flame.
  3. In a separate pan, boil water. Once the water starts boiling, add sugar.
  4. Let the sugar melt. Then add kesar(saffron). 
  5. Once the suji is roasted well, add muskmelon seeds. Let it pop. 
  6. Then add sugar water little by little. Turn the flame to the lowest. 
  7. Once the entire water is added, turn the flame to high. In between add dry fruits. Continuously stir till the water is absorbed completely. 
  8. Switch off the flame and serve it hot. 
  9. Add some dry fruits on the top.
