Honey Oats Bread

It is an increasing craze for home baking worldwide. People love to bake. Especially the young generation. Baking includes variety of things such as cakes, pizzas, breads and other baked dishes. Each category is classified into different versions as per individual taste buds. Furthermore, they are largely segregated as vegetarian baking and non-vegetarian baking.

Earlier it was difficult for vegetarian people to bake cakes and breads at home and that too without using eggs. It is from a couple of decades that egg less baking is adapted by adding substitutes of egg. Though there are various ways to do baking, but using baking powder and yeast is the most famous substitute.

Yeast is used to bake breads and pizza dough. It is a quick and safest method. It does not require any training or practice. Correct measurements are enough to bake a perfect bread. Today, i will share with you honey oats bread recipe using yeast. If you follow the exact measurements, i assure you bread just like any bakery bread. Lets look at the ingredients and method to bake it.

Preparation Time: 25 mins
Cooking time: 40-45 mins

Ingredients:
  • Oats - 1/2 cup
  • Boiling water - 1 cup
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Refined flour - 1 1/2 cup
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Cooking oil - 1 1/2 tablespoon
  • Dry instant yeast - 3/4 teaspoon
  • Oil - for greasing
  • Milk - for applying on the top
  • Oats - for sprinkling
Honey Oats Bread
Method:
  1. In a bowl, add oats, mix honey and boiling water into separate bowl then add this on oats. Mix it well. Keep it aside till the water becomes Luke warm. By the time, oats will be soaked well and get sticky.
  2. In a separate large bowl, add refined flour, salt, oil, yeast and honey oats mixture. 
  3. Mix it really well till it combines and turn into dough.
  4. Transfer it into platform, sprinkle some dry flour and knead the dough gently.
  5. Knead it for 5 minutes till the dough becomes smooth and shiny.
  6. In the same large bowl, apply oil at all the ends and place the dough in it. Apply oil on the dough too.
  7. Cover it and let the dough rise to double. It may take one hour.
  8. After the dough gets double, punch it and knead it for a minute.
  9. Take a baking mold, grease it with oil and place the dough in it.
  10. Press the dough gently so it becomes equal at all the ends.
  11. Cover it with transparent plastic sheet till it become double again.
  12. Once it doubles, this means the yeast is perfectly activated.
  13. Remove the plastic sheet and then apply milk on the dough.
  14. Sprinkle some oats on it.
  15. Bake it in preheated oven at 160 C for 25 minutes.
  16. Once it is baked, apply some milk on the top and cover it with damp cloth.
  17. This will make the upper crust soft.
  18. Let it cool down completely.
  19. Then demold it and cut it into slices of your choice. It can be thin or thick as per your preference.
  20. Eat this bread with butter jam and make sandwich out of it.
Note: Do not use too hot water with yeast, this will crack the bread. Also, do not use too cold water, it may not help yeast to activate. Luke warm water works best with yeast
